Where children shoot for the stars and shine

Foundation Subjects

French

Children have been learning French throughout Key Stage 2. They are enjoying learning their colours, numbers, greetings, foods & drinks.

Design & Technology

The children in Year 1 have had great fun designing and making a strong new house for ‘The Three Little Pigs’. The children in Year 4 have enjoyed designing and building replica Tudor Houses out of wood.

Art

The children are encouraged to be creative through art using a variety of media and techniques. Children are proud of the work they produce and enjoy seeing it regularly displayed around the school. The children are encouraged to look to their local environment and the world beyond to provide inspiration for their work. A wide range of styles, skills and artists are studied.

Geography

In Geography, the children learn about their locality and other localities around the world.  They develop their enquiry skills through using maps and carrying out questionnaires.  They think about how humans affect the environment and what can be done to save it.  We try to take the children out on field visits to bring Geography to life.

Music

In Music children have the chance to learn and sing many different types of songs. We are currently working towards achieving the Gold ‘Sing Up’ award. This year, Year 4 are receiving specialist music lessons from the staff at the Forest Arts Centre. Over the year they will experience Samba, Djembe Drumming and play the keyboards. We have a school choir which rehearse every week and in the spring term they will  do a production of Cinderella.
