Where children shoot for the stars and shine

Reading is an integral part of the curriculum at St James and we aim to make it an enjoyable activity. Children are regularly tested in reading and the results tell us what level of book is best for them. They will always have a book to bring home but they can also access some excellent books on Bug Club.

Children will be given a book bag and they need to bring this to school each day to keep their books in good condition. They can also carry homework in this bag too.

Please encourage your child to read at home at least three times a week and sign their diary. Please feel free to write comments in their diary about your child's reading. There will be a book mark in their diary which gives you questions you could ask your child when they are reading.

Thank you for your support. If a child reads well it will help them to be good learners in all other subjects.
