Good morning year five. Today in English we will be looking at synonyms and antonyms. Please look at the PowerPoint then complete p56 of your book.
Synonyms are similar meaning words or phrases. They can be very useful for improving the quality of your writing. Sometimes we use the same words over and over, which can be boring for our readers.
Antonyms are words which have opposite meanings.

Morning!
How did you get on with the rainbow sport's challenge? Year 6 did it in the classroom and the highest score was 32 in 1 minute and 30 seconds. Let me know how you got on. Today's challenge is below, please have a go and let me know how you do.
Your topic work is to watch the video on the Brownhill's miners. Listen carefully to the words of the song as there are some questions to answer on the attached sheet.
The year 5 children who are in school were asking Mrs Watton about what coal was used for and they talked about how it is used to create electricity. They have decided to go for a day at school without using electricity! I wonder how they will manage? Do you think it will be difficult? Do you think you could do it!
Have a great day,
Love Ms R x

Today we will be reading a persuasive advert on the PowerPoint. We will also be doing p4 of your workbooks on adjectives.
Revision:
Adjectives are words that are used to describe or modify nouns or pronouns. For example, red, quick, happy, and obnoxious are adjectives because they can describe things—a red hat, the quick rabbit, a happy duck, an obnoxious person.
