Week 2 (week beginning 30th March 2020)

Hi Year 5. Happy Friday!

Below are some activities to keep you busy today. I have loved seeing what you are up to on Class Dojo. If you haven't joined Class Dojo yet, please do as we can all keep in touch and share our news.

Today, we would normally be breaking up for our Easter holiday, so I want you to have a rest over the next two weeks and enjoy it as much as you can so I won't be giving you work to do each day. However, I am going to set you a little project with some fun things to do to keep you busy.

Keep your eyes open on the website for the Easter project folder.

Love Ms Randle

I would like you to complete pages 12 and 13 of your work book which revises multiplication. If you want, you can have a go at the problem of the day.

There is a lot of bad news around us at the moment but there are some good stories too, whether it be local schools donating equipment to hospitals, children painting rainbows or your whole street clapping for the NHS. We really need to focus on the positive things at the moment so your task today is to look for the acts of kindness you can see around you, either in your home/street/community or in the world around you.

I want your Happy News!

So, make a note or draw pictures of any happy stories you have heard. You could also look at newspapers or watch news on Newsrounds Happy News. See the  links.

Record your pictures/text on the attached sheet but if you can’t print it off, please design your own sheet to record your happy news on.

Or if you prefer, you can do your work on Purple Mash. Go to English, writing genres and themes, report writing/newspaper

Please share your work with me on Class Dojo if you can.

Hi Year 5.

Hope you are all well and have had a good weekend and enjoyed having a little rest from school work!

Please try to keep up with your work as it will really help pass the time and give you something to think about. Thank you to those of you who have done the purple mash activities. I have looked at them! Thank you also for those of you who have emailed me pictures of you working at home. I do like to see what you are doing at home.

Keep up the good work and keep in touch.

Here is your work for this week.

Wednesday 1st April

Hi children. Hope you are all well. I am really pleased to see some of you taking part in Times Tables Rockstars.

We now have Class Dojo too and your parents/carers have been sent an invite for you to join. You will be able to send me your work and message me on here so please try to get that set up.

Well done to those who are keeping up their reading on Bug Club. Some of you have read lots of books already. Please make sure you are reading regularly on Bug Club as there are some fantastic books on here to read.

You need to read a book to do your English task this week!

Hope to see all the amazing work you have been doing on Class Dojo. Bye for now. Ms Randle

This is the second lesson on multiplying fractions. The first sheet explains how to do it and the second sheet has some calculations to do. You can do these in your lined book unless you are able to print of the sheet.

I have allocated you two activities on Bug Club and Purple Mash today.

The first one is to watch the video on tious/cious spellings and choose 5 words with each ending to practise.

The second activity is to write a book review on Purple Mash. I have set this as a to-do task and I will be marking it.

Monday 30th March

Read a book on Bug Club.

Go to Bug Club and find the grammar and spelling section. I have allocated this for you to watch.

When you have watched this, have a go at the worksheet. There are 3 different ones. Choose the one you think is best for you- think about which ones you usually do in class! The answers are at the bottom. I have put this in to a word document but some of the text has moved around a bit. Can you write the answers in your lined book please.

Please complete work book pages 4 and 5 place value and ordering

I have set you all up on Times Tables Rock Stars. If you haven’t already got your login details, let me know and I’ll send them to you.

I have set you a to- do task on Mayan pyramids. Please complete this work as I will be marking it. If you are having problems getting on Purple Mash can you please do some research on Mayan pyramids and e mail it to me or send a picture of your work to the Face Book page.
