Reading
Children need to read at least three times per week and we ask that adults sign the diaries. These will be checked on Thursdays and signatures will be counted towards the children gaining their reading badges.
Red badge- 25 reads
Orange- 50 reads
Yellow- 75 reads
Green- 100
Blue- 125
Purple- 150
Following this the children become champion readers and are given a book mark with a sticker for every 25 reads after this.
Homework
Reading forms part of the weekly homework.
Times tables are also expected to be practised at home. By the end of Year 4, children are expected to know all of their times tables so it is very important that they practice them at home.
Your children has a login for TT Rockstars which will really help them to secure their times tables knowledge in a fun way.
Home learning projects
There will be three projects set over the year for the children to complete at home with the support of an adult. We will send out further information about this nearer the time.
Spellings
Spellings are taught throughout the week and children will be tested on a Friday. A copy of the spellings will be sent home on Fridays so children can do further practice. The children will also have a login for Spelling Shed which they can use to practice spellings.
