Where children shoot for the stars and shine

SRP

Welcome to the SRP

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are very pleased to welcome your child here at St. James Primary School into our Specialist Resource Provision (SRP). We look forward to working closely with you over the coming years to ensure that your child really enjoys their time with us and achieves their full potential.

We have two classes in the SRP - Moonlight and Sunshine, which have 8 children in each class. Each class is currently set up so that it has something bespoke to your child's needs. This will help with their learning and help them to flourish and grow!

This page is designed to help you understand what happens in the SRP and help your child to become an independent individual who if fully supported and nurtured throughout their time with us.

The children that access the SRP will have their own individual Curriculum Pathway based on their individual needs, strengths and challenges. All of the requirements from their current ILP, EHCP and external specialist advice such as SALT will support and feed into their targets and learning. The Curriculum consists of what we want our children to experience, learn and be able to do. We take into consideration children's individual needs, sensory requirements, what is important to the child and their family and how we can best prepare them for the next stage of life.

Children follow a Rhythm of the day which includes English and maths daily, all other subject areas are taught through topic. Themes are planned for each half-term with opportunities to build on children's interests and ideas throughout. Children are encouraged and supported to develop their communication, social skills, independence and self-regulation skills. Please see Yearly Overviews for more information.
