A Message from our Executive Headteacher (Mrs Jo Wilson)
and our Head of School (Mrs Claire MacInnes)
Welcome to our website…
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to St James Primary School, in particular our first time visitors who would like to find out a little more about us.
We are an open and welcoming school set within a strong local community. Our school caters for children of three years of age in our nursery and children from the ages of four to eleven in our main school provision.
At St James School, we have a committed team of staff who create a happy, welcoming and secure environment. Our children love coming to school and make the most of the opportunities provided to them. We aim to engage all members of the school community in learning, in school life and to celebrate our successes together! We believe that the partnership between families and the school is vital and we actively encourage the community to become involved in the life of our school.
Our core moral purpose is encapsulated in our school vision statement:
St James’ Vision and Values
Where children shoot for the stars and shine!
At St James, our pupils are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that our children need to be proud of who they are, their achievements and their individuality.
Here at, St James our children:
- Share
- Care
- Believe
- Achieve
Through talking with our children, we have created the following ideas to support us in fulfilling our values.
To show we share we can:
- share a smile
- share a hug
- share our equipment or toys
- share our space
- share our thoughts
- share our time
We teach our children that to show we care we can:
- help a struggling friend
- cheer a friend up
- find a lost item
- hold open a door
- smile
- use your manners
- make sure nobody feels alone
- be kind
To show we believe we can:
- be confident in our self
- know it is okay to make mistakes - they help us to learn and improve
- have dreams, hopes and wishes
- let nobody stop us from following our dreams
To show we achieve we can:
- celebrate our achievements
- never give up
- work hard
- listen well
- concentrate
- ask for help
- follow advice
- follow our dreams
We provide children with the confidence to be an active part of the local community, explore opportunities available to them and develop their aspirations, hopes and dreams in a safe and caring environment.
We recognise that the real strength in our school community comes from working together and understanding how to support each other. We focus on personal development, experiences and developing a love of learning. We strongly believe in nurturing children’s self-belief and supporting them to become able and responsible members of the community, who are above all else, kind.
Visitors to our school always comment on the welcoming ethos, so please do take the time to visit us if you can. Happy browsing.
Thank you for visiting!
